WHY PPE RESIN IN AI POWER DISTRIBUTION BUSWAY INSULATION?

Protecting electrical distribution systems in AI data centers is challenging. That’s why it’s important to choose a busway insulation material that is well suited to withstand high voltages, high power densities and high heat. An inferior insulative polymer can cause risks ranging from electrical arcing and short circuits to part warpage and deformation over time.

With their massive power requirements, many AI data centers use overhead busway instead of underfloor cabling to distribute electricity to servers. However, high-power copper busbar within these busway require robust electrical insulation for safety, compliance and reliability.

As a result, manufacturers are selecting NORYLTM resins, based on polyphenylene ether (PPE) technology, for busway insulation. These specialty dielectric materials, which have been validated by leading busway OEMs, can help enhance the design, performance and stability of AI data center power systems.

Benefits of NORYL resins in AI busway electrical insulation

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Facilitate busway designs that enable rapid scale-up and easy configuration changes.
DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
Maintain precise geometries of long profiles with low water uptake
DIELECTRIC STRENGTH
Help prevent electrical breakdown and protect against contact with live parts.
THERMAL RESISTANCE
Withstand high heat generated by electrical currents. Well suited to meet IEC 61439 standard.
NON-BROMINATED/NON-CHLORINATED FLAME RETARDANCE
Meet UL94 V0 @ 1.5mm (5VA @ 2.5mm; 5VB @ 2.0mm); Pass GWFI @ 960°C and GWIT @ 825°C.
MECHANICALS
Deliver good impact strength and structural integrity. Well suited to meet UL508A Section 13.
LOW DENSITY
Helps to reduce weight of components for easier installation
